Today is official cover release day for award winning young adult author Cheryl Rainfield's new book entitled Stained. I have had the pleasure of reading and reviewing one of Cheryl's other books and I can tell you that you won't be disappointed with her new one! I hope that you are excited as I am for Cheryl's new release,  here you can learn more about it.

Book Description: In this heart-wrenching and suspenseful teen thriller, sixteen-year-old Sarah Meadows longs for "normal." Born with a port-wine stain covering half her face, all her life she’s been plagued by stares, giggles, bullying, and disgust. But when she’s abducted on the way home from school, Sarah is forced to uncover the courage she never knew she had, become a hero rather than a victim, and learn to look beyond her face to find the beauty and strength she has inside. It’s that—or succumb to a killer.

Tag Line: Sometimes you have to be your own hero.

Release Date: Nov 19, 2013

Publisher: Houghton Mifflin Harcourt

Message from the author:

Like I did with SCARS and HUNTED, I drew on some of my own experiences of bullying, abuse, and trauma to write STAINED and to give it greater emotional depth. Like Sarah in STAINED, I experienced abduction, imprisonment, periods of forced starvation, mind control, and having my life threatened. And like Sarah, I tried hard to fight against my abuser, keep my own sense of self, and escape. I hope readers will see Sarah's strength and courage, and appreciate her emotional growth as she reclaims herself.

Book Review: Parallel Visions by Cheryl Rainfield

Sometime's we need reminders that we are not alone in the trials that we face. As a domestic violence survivor I was encouraged after reading Parallel Visions by Cheryl Rainfield. The intended audience for this book is teenagers but really I think adults could benefit from it as well. Not only am I a domestic violence survivor but I am an advocate as well. I advocate for many causes such as depression, suicide, etc which were also touched on in Parallel Visions.

Cheryl Rainfield did a great job at showing how teens go through things and it is often covered up. As parents, we would like to believe that we know almost everything that there is to know about our children and that if something happens, our children would not hesitate to tell us. The truth is that when it comes to teen dating violence and even other issues that teens face, they are more likely to confide in their friends first in fear that their parents will judge them.

Oh I would love to tell you everything that happen but I will let you read it for yourself, I gave the book 5 stars, what will you give it? Read it and lets see! The review that I wrote on Amazon can be seen here: Parallel Visions Amazon Book Review.

Have you read it Parallel Visions or will you? if so or when you do feel free to come back and let me know what you rated it!

Book Review: Finally Home by Helen Scott Taylor

A LOVE STORY The title of this blog seems so simple or generic doesn't it? Yes, I thought so myself which is exactly why I chose to use it. You see love can be so simple yet complicated and love is also real. I am excited to share this book review with you, although I cannot share all due to an agreement that I have with Night Owl Reviews (a site that I happen to be a book review for and I love it by the way). I can share my own twist though.

Upon receiving my acceptance to be apart of Night Owl Reviews, I chose to read and review a book entitled Finally Home by Helen Scott Taylor.  I am one that loves romance novels but of course I did not know what to expect. This book felt like it was written for me, it was one that gave me hope. I am a very honest book reviewer and I definitely would not say that a book was good if it wasn't although I would not trash it either.

The story line, although not nearly exactly what I have been through in my short-lived life, I could relate to it in a lot of ways. In a way, the book kind of helped me heal through a situation. By reading how the main Character in the book, Melanie Marshall, reacted to certain situations, it kind of showed me how I reacted in those same situations.

It is not always easy to see how we react to others or how are actions/reactions affect others but I definitely saw it through this book. You can read my full review of Finally Home here ( Night Owl Reviews- MzLofton  ).

If you enjoy romance novels like I do, I would definitely encourage you to check this book out! Have you read Finally Home or will you? If so or when you do feel free to come back and let me know how you rated it.
